Information and advice for travelling abroad

Travel Vaccinations

Important

Due to limited nursing hours, high demand for travel vaccinations and the need to prioritise essential NHS services such as cervical screening and childhood immunisations, we are only able to offer 2 travel vaccination appointments per month.

If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel, please complete our online travel form.

We advise you to book a minimum of 8 weeks prior to travel to secure an appointment.

During this appointment, the nurse will discuss your destination, the vaccines you may need, and other health precautions you should take whilst abroad.

You will also be vaccinated if any of the vaccines that the NHS provide are required, these include; Polio, Typhoid, Hep A and Cholera.

If we are fully booked for travel vaccinations, we would still like to help you! You can:

  • Receive general travel health advice from our nurse.
  • Be provided with a copy of your immunisation history, which will be useful in obtaining any other vaccinations you might require prior to travelling.

Some travel vaccines may need to be given at a private travel clinic elsewhere and must be paid for, direct to the provider. Vaccines need time to take effect and some may require a course over several weeks.
